PC Won't Boot - Help!

961 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  removed9808a
My PC won't boot at all. When I press the power button, the fan speeds right up and then nothing, the fan continues to run at full speed, I don't get anything on the screen (the orange standby light just stays on) and my recovery CD doesn't work. This happened when I was shutting down Fedora 4, I shut the machine down, then it got to a point where is stopped responding, it wouldn't move any further along. So I pressed and held my power button to turn it off. Next thing I try and start it up and nothing works!

Any help on this please!

Thanks.

Daniel.

one thing you can do is to clear the cmos jumper on the motherboard. refer to the motherboard manual for the location of the cmos jumper. you can also take out the motherboard battery and leave it out of the motherboard for abour 20minutes. put the battery back and turn on they sysem, see if you can get the computer to post.

if this doesnt work then try booting up the computer with only the bare minimum: power supply, motherboard, cpu, ram, and videocard.

also try booting up the computer with only one stick of ram at a time if your computer has multiple sticks of ram installed. good luck
This worked perfectly, PC now functioning as usual.

Thanks keymaker!
