Hi, I aquired this Dell Optiplex GX50 tower w/ XP Professional from an old lady who said it worked fine and then this password request drove her crazy. She said the pc worked fine for quite a while before this. Don't know what's true there or not.

When you hit the power on button, just one Dell screen appears, states the BIOS info (revision A06), shows a white bar that advances to the right as it boots, in the upper rt corner, it says hit f2 for Setup, f12 for Boot Menu.

It never can go into Setup or Boot Menu because there is a Password request page that shows up, no matter what you try. You can't get past it. Maybe this was a company pc and there is some sort of network block or something. I tried pulling the battery out overnight - that didn't work. It said it was "reconfiguring automatically" and then the password request popped up again. It's not a Windows looking password page - there are no descriptors on it, like ABC company, or anything. Just Password Request........that's it. It allows me 2 random passwords, then it says that I have used up my 2 allowed passwords and I must "power down".

I opened the case. It looks clean and looks unused for an older model pc. No dust or anything. There is a little attachment that puzzles me... a tiny Dell card maybe 1" x 2" that I have never seen before. It definately says "Dell" on in. And there is a word "intruder" on it too. I unplugged the card from the mobo, and the pc won't go on electricly at all - no juice. I wonder if there is a way to remove this card, but then I don't know what I'm removing. Looks like it is screwed into the chassis very securely, like it is an "onboard" card, and connects to a black plastic box maybe 2" x3" big nearby. Has some grey cable coming out of it, some wires..

Please help. PC looks like it has many years of life left in it. Would hate to just pull some parts out and toss the machine in the garbage.
