Hi:

I have a big problem with my pc: Last week i reinstalled Windows XP, upgraded the mother BIOS, and i upgraded all my drivers and software after the instalation. Now my pc ramdomly frezes. The mouse and the keyboard doesn't respond, and i have to press the reset button to reboot. After that, i reinstalled everything 4 times, but the freezes doesn't stop. I open my computer case and extracted all the dust, i replaced the 5 case cooler fans, cleaned the cpu cooler, replaced one of the hard disk coolers and clean / lubricate the cooler of the other hard disk. But the freeze continues. Its one of the drivers?. One of the hard disk coolers is broken?. Ill apreciate very much if you can help me. Thank you very much.

This is my hardware:

Welcome to TSF:

You have found out first hand why its a poor choice to change, modify and or add multiple things to a computer in a fast manner / when you have problems it becomes VERY difficult to pin point what is causing the problem.

I would start by returning to the bios version you were running / many people report a bios upgrade gets quirky for them. Unless you need a bios or driver upgrade to solve a problem with a component / then DONT do it :4-thatsba

very seldom does a bios or driver upgrade make things run better or faster when the current version is not experiencing any problems ???

post back and let us know if the bios downgrade helps / dont hesitate to ask more questions

regards

No words will ring more true than these oh wise one.

Been there done that!

You may have to unwind your entire upgrade and do a clean install. If the problems go away then add one component at a time until the problem reappears.

What's all this talk of being careful! Throw caution to the wind and race against yourself!

Bad idea.

I like to go fast, but that's because my ego has told me that I'm that good.

Some people know how to back up as well as they go forward, if you get my meaning.

Thank you very much!!!

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I removed the 3 DDRs, and reinstalled them in a diferent order, checking that the 3 are well atached in to the mother. Also i reinstalled the BIOS with Asus Update. I added a third cooler in the top of the case (extracts air) and a thir cooler in the left side (air in). Now the Cool n' Quiet feature works very well and 1 hour have passed without freezing. I disabled Master ECC in the setup.
I hope the problem has been resolved. Thank you very much for your support!!!

Again

This damn ***** freezed again. I set all the bios values to default, and double checked that all the values are as shown in the motherboard manual. After upgrading the faking bios, everithing run fine with this hardware config, so the hardware its not the problem. Its a setup value. The drivers i'm using worked well before reinstalling Win XP, so the only damn thing can cause this freezes is the BIOS. Checking the setup defaults and the values in the manual, i found some values that are enabled by the setup defaults and are disalbed in the manual. This is very frustrating. Wish me luck!!!
