Pc connects through ethernet cable but not my Xbox

I'm connecting to the internet directly through my modem, when I take the same cable from my PC and put it in the Xbox it doesn't work. I tried resetting the router and unplugging it, switching cables. The xbox is able to connect through another wireless source to xbox live but the connection is awful which is why I need to play directly through my own modem. It worked fine up until I plugged the same cable to my PC and then tried to switch back to my Xbox. Any tips are appreciated.

im not xbox user myself, but i'll try...
go to xbox network connections and set your network method "cable" or whatever it is, because i dont think xbox knows itself what connection method you want to use (if you used wireless before)
