£600 is a good amount, you will get a decent rig out of it.

Antec TruePower Trio 650W ATX PSU - £70

Comes out to about £544 before VAT. If you will end up being too over budget, you can drop down to 1x 1 GB stick of RAM, I believe that was less money that the dual channel pair. You will also need to choose a case. The Antec Sonata is a nice inexpensive case.

Thanks for you help thats great. may i just say this to clear my mind.
Been looking at the 3 Processor's below. I know the intel with the Cache Memory 2 x 1 MB is good,,,,, but what about the Bus Size 2000 MHz on the AMD Athlon 64 X2 when the intel has Bus Speed 1066 MHz

http://www.lowestonweb.com/products/...2-8FB720F9DAF7 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ sktAM2

Intel Core 2 Duo E64002.13GHz

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz

Don't let these zealots trick you, Doj!

For that amount of money you could build a good system. I'm getting my prices from www.newegg.com which lists in US dollars. The amount you said you have to spend is roughly $1,100 USD.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138026
BIOSTAR TForce 550 AM2 Socket motherboard $79.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103030
AMD 5000+ X2 $309.99

I'd use those as a base and work up. You still have about $700 left in the budget from there. Sure, Intel may have the upper-hand in some areas but if you look at ALL the numbers they are almost equal.

Well i have looked at both Processors,,,, by THE MAT and Ebackhas, but i cant work out which is best,,, but the intel has L2 Cache Size: 2 MB and the AMD only has 1MB L2 cache, i guess thats a large difference but i dont know what it does or means. Then the AMD has a Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz When the intel has Processor Speed: 2.13 GHz. Thanks for the links Ebackhas but i am in the uk.>>> THE MAT<<<< Can i ask a ? please, If i went for that system i think i would have to spend about another £200,,,,, Not sure about the ram i was thinking more like (2GB or 1 and half gig) (dont know how good the ram is you put in the link and i think i would prefer 1 gig ram modules) and maybee up the graphics card a bit ?>>>> Let me know what you think and thanks for your time all,,,,,, doj harris,,,,

That looks good, but it looks like it would be a tight fit into your budget, and you may go over a little. If you can afford it, then go for it, that would be better than my Motherboard/CPU/RAM combo.

Keep the questions coming, that is what TSF is here for
