Password protect files/folders on HD and NAS Drives

I am running Windows XP Pro and also have a large number of files and folders on an NAS Drive (SimpleTech 160GB NAS). I would like to lock some of the folders and some specific files with a password.

Win XP does not seem to have this as a native feature. I think!!:4-dontkno

Which would mean a 3rd Party software? Any good free ones out there?
