Is there any way back from password lockout ?

Comp specs. and short history of current problem:

It's a Compaq with 566/66 MHz Celeron with mem size 256 MB.

System ROM date-02/11/00, system ROM family- 686C3. Goal

at time of problem-to change passward to no password.

Actions: Under security entered "marvin" for current

password (correct .) Under new password tapped space

bar X 5 - repeated this action when prompted for

new password once again. All seemed well until I turned

the computer on again ! Neither tapping the space bar nor

typing marvin when prompted at " power- on password."

allowed the usual win boot-up sequence to occur !

Another change in bios was from "quick boot" to "full boot".

Under IRQ's in use were #3 (x3), #5 (X2) and #11 (X3)-no

apparrent conflicts. More under Bios Advanced- - Bios Mastering>

enabled. Device Options- Alt. Mem. Reporting> enabled-(Maybe

that's the reason for the mem counting-up as soon as comp. is

turned on ?) UAB Keyboard Support>enabled ( I'm using

a Logitech Wireless USB Keybd.) Parallel Port Mode-Among

choices of ECP, EPP, Compatable or Bi-directional, I

chose Bi-d foe printer support.. Num. Lock state at "power on"

left on "on." How can I get comp. to recognise new password ?

I'd even be happy to return to the old pawssword at this

point !! Thanks in advance and in hopeful anticipation

of an answer, if not a solution to this very frustrating

dillemna.

:upset:

Thank you, Zachaller. Removing the batt. worked. Did I hear

Tank you, Zachaller, removing the batt. worked. Thank

goodness, because the prospect of locating the manual

was more daunting than I like to admit...

Thanks, again.
