Hi guys,

I was planning to use a program like acronis to create an image of my system so I could have something just in case something goes haywire. But I forgot one thing -- I don't have any separate partitions. I have a full 160G Seagate SATA and I was wondering if it would even be possible to create a partition with an HD that's in use already?

yes you can with a program like partition magic

but you have to have free space on the drive >>>> the drive cant be 85% full and expect to make a blank partition ?????

the best option in "my book" is to buy another drive for about $75.00 or less and then use a freeware image program like Drive Image XML to create and store an image file

you must remember; if mechanical failure strikes your current only drive; then your image wont save you ???????????

My drive still has 85% free space so it won't be a problem..

Thanks for the advice.
