Partition keeps recreating itself...

So I finally just got a new mobo and got everything installed and I wanted to have fedora core 6 and win xp on my comp. I dl'ed the cd's for fedora 6 because my dvd drive appears to be not working anymore. A friend told me I should install fedora first (and I believed him cause I didn't remember that someone here told me to install windows first for a dual boot to work). So I installed fedora and afterward tried to install windows and when it boots to the cd (the win xp one) it just says "setup is inspecting your system's configuration" and then the screen goes black and it stays black-I've let it sit for up to like 10 minutes. So then I realized I should be installing win xp first after finally having the sense to look at this thread (I had forgotten about it).

Anyways, so I booted off the fedora 6 cd1 again and this time I deleted ALL the partitions and turned the comp off. I inserted the win xp cd and same thing happens, so I let it boot to fedora (without the cd) and came up with a command line. I found this strange so I booted to the fedora cd again and lo and behold the partitions I deleted were there again-as if they were never deleted-so obviously I'm doing something wrong.

Bottom line: How can I fix this? I would really like to have win xp and fedora, but at the very least I would like win xp. My brother told me I need a bootable partitioner-but I know of no such thing. Anyways I system specs are in the sidebar, and if this should be in the linux forum, feel free to move it.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff...i'm not too clued up on Fedora i'm afraid but you could probably download the hard drive manafacturer's utility program which you could use to completely wipe that hard drive and then install XP as fresh and then create the new partition for Fedora. Even if you can't find the hard drive manafacturers tool, you can use something like killdisk to do the job.

Hope that helps :)
So I download that, burn it and the computer will boot off the cd?
Nevermind, I gave it a shot and worked like a charm.

Thanks,

Jeff
