Hi

I had the stock-bios version of p7p55d pro motherboard, which I am quite sure was version
"0501" or earlier. When I flashed the Bios to latest version "1702", the temperature indicator for the cpu increased and heats up around 51-52 in idle temp, before the flash I checked the temp indicator and with the old bios it stayed around 41-42 in idle temp, which means the temperature increased around 10 C after the flash... Stress temperatures also increased for about 10C...

Does anyone else got the same temp increase after flashing? I wonder if something went wrong in the flash, or maybe the later bios versions got more precise?

Regards!

Why did you flash the Bios? What are you using to read the temps?
PC Specs?

Right now I am using Real Temp and the bios temperature readings.

I have also used t-probe amd core temp.

I flashed the bios because i thought the computer would be more stable
with the latest bios. The flash just caused more problems.

Computer specs are:

Core i7 860
asus p7p55d pro
1333 Mhz DDR3
2x 1 tb disks
Nvida Geforce ENGTX 275

Bios updates should ONLY be done if the update addresses a particular problem you are experiencing.
Brand & Model of the PSU?
Brand & Model of the RAM? How much and what configuration?

Thank you for caring, yeah I know it was stupid to update the bios , and now I cant downgrade again... I did the flashing from asus ez in dos , everything seemed to go well, do you think something could have gotten wrong ´during the flash?

I see similar results with my 17 860 and asus board although I have the sabertooth. 46c in bios 38c with asus pc probe (I realize software monitoring programs are unreliable but maybe some of the ai on the 860 doesn't come into play until os boots? ie cpu fan speeds). I recently updated to latest bios but didn't have any change in temps like you. If you go through all the bios revisions released for that board and see what they are designed to update and don't find any that address temp sensor readings then I'd be inclined to think that it is just this latest revision. You can always flash back to a previous rev to verify that the bios update is causing the different readings.

The problems Is that I cant downgrade the board... I have tried almost everything... AFUDOS ; "engineer edition" , and flashing from windows with the downgrade option checked in "asus update utility" and ASUS dos updater etc... The board will not allow me to downgrade the bios ,,, :/ I have even tried the crash-free bios 3.0.

I doubt anything went wrong with your bios flash; in fact if anything you may find the new bios revision to have more accurate sensor temp readings

the intel i7 cpu's run about 10C hotter than previous generation cpu's

have you tried stress testing your system to see if a 100% cpu load gets you hotter than 70C ?

use OCCT (free download) to stress check your system

abort testing if temps are higher than 70C at full load

on another note, after reflashing the bios all settings would be back to default

have you set your cpu fan in the bios temp settings to run full throttle at a lower temperature?

I personally prefer to disable that feauture and I run my cpu fan at 100% all the time; I prefer cool cpu and system temps -vs- quiet machine

cooler temps saves money $$$$$$$$$

Thanks for the reply, I made a stress test some time ago , and the temp reaches 74-75 C at full load. I have smart fan enabled in bios at normal speed,
and yes I have set reset everything after the flash. Maybe I need a better cooler? Before the flash stress testing was around 64 C
