I have a Core2Duo E4400 (conroe) 2.0ghz fitted and im looking to upgrade to a E6700 (conroe) 3.2ghz I know its compatible with my MB but its a 64bit processor. Ive seen somewhere that the E4400 is also a 64bit chip, if so then a straight swap E4400 -> E6700 should be Ok but id like to know for sure that i wont have to upgrade to Vista 64bit version ?!?! Please help if you can

You don't need a 64-bit version of Windows. You can run a a 64-bit CPU with either 32 or 64-bit OS's

You may be required to reinstall (or at least perform a repair installation) after swapping the CPU.

Is the Mobo from a OEM PC?
If so, the Mobo/Bios may not accept the E6700.

My Mobo is from a OEM PC. here are the details

ASUS Leonite2 V6.00 eoni chipset Intel 82954G LGA775
BIOS 04/20/2007 Lakeport - Leonite -00

If the E6700 won't work with my mobo can anyone recommend another that will ?

There are no guarantees that any other CPU will be compatible with an OEM Mobo/Bios.
Contact the PC manufacturer for the most reliable info on what Cpu(s) will/will not work.

According to the link you posted up to the E6700 is supported.
