I have a P5AD2-E system that is experiencing some issues and I am almost totally stumped. While playing games such as Battlefield 2, the system will experience a hard freeze. I thought, since it was a newer game, that it was the onboard sound. We put in a new Sound Blaster Audigy 2 hoping that would fix the problem. However, it didn't. Now the system locks up more frequently while playing games.

I will say this doesn't happen on every game. Games like Command and Conquer Generals don't have an issue. My thought is that it COULD be memory. I haven't tested the memory yet though.

Here is my system specs.

Antec 550 watt power supply
P5AD2-E Deluxe Motherboard
3.4 gigahertz processor
EVga 6800GT Nvidia card
2 1GB Kingston DDR Memory
160GB Seagate SATA Drive
Plextor PX716A Plexwriter
Plextor Plexwriter 48/24/48 CDRom writer

Any ideas what it could be?

Memtest went through ok. 16 passes with no errors.

I also discovered that the system freezes a little more often with the audigy card as opposed to the onboard sound. That is something I did not expect.

I am starting to lean toward a bad or going bad motherboard.

@ Nyteman
What are your system/CPU/GPU temps like at idle and during heavy load or heavy gaming? Also your voltages during heavy gaming?
