Hi,

I'm using an ASUS P4P800-X motherboard. It comes with a Realtek RTL8139/810x NIC on it. My internet connection is cable and I use a Motorola SB4200 SURFboard cable modem.

Since I've started using this computer, I've been experiencing some problems at online games like World of Warcraft or America's Army. (I'm losing my Internet connection whenever I complete a mission/quest.)

I thought that changing my ethernet card could solve it. I've bought a SURECOM EP-320X-V/V1, installed it and disabled my onboard NIC from BIOS. But I couldn't manage to connect to Internet. Repairing the connection or restarting the modem didn't help at all. It says "Invalid IP" when I open the connection status window. After that I've tried to install my old ethernet card (an older model of Realtek) but experienced the same problem.

So basically, I'm unable to install any other ethernet cards to my computer and connect to Internet. I'm stuck with my onboard ethernet card which causes some problems. :4-dontkno

If there's anyone familiar with this situation or got any ideas how to solve this issue, I'd be glad to hear them. I'd also appreciate any advices.

Thanks already.

The net disconnecting is a problem myself and most of my friends have had at one point or another if only intermittantly.

I'll cut a long story short by telling you that my problem (which was the adsl light flashing losing sync) was solved one day when my power supply finally gave up! I put a new one in and the thing worked flawlessly thereafter! I guess the PSU was unable to supply the USB power to the modem along with the other things I was running.

Your problem is that you cant easily test this. You may be able to measure a voltage if you know which pins to test but under loads it's the current available which is the issue.

Anyway, it's just a suggestion and i'm sure others will give theirs but this is something that actually happened to me regarding the internet disconnecting for no reason.

Getting disconnected is one issue and I really appreciate your suggestion. I'll try to use another power supply some time.

But being unable to use another ethernet card is very annoying. With other ethernet cards I'm just unable to connect to Internet. :(
