When I plug my Ximeta external USB 2.0 hard drive into any of the Asus USB 2.0 ports, I get an error from XP that says:

"HI-SPEED USB Device Plugged into non-HI-SPEED USB Hub"

I have BIOS 1011, XP w/SP1, all MS updates, Intel Chipset Software (newest) installed, USB set for HI-SPEED in BIOS, tried Enable / Disable of Legacy in BIOS. Nothing works.

I've attached a file to show this.

Anyone?

Are you hot-plugging the drive, or booting up with it already plugged in?
Is the external drive self-powered? If not, plug it into a self-powered USB 2.0 hub.

Was trying to hot plug. I don't want to have to use a hub being that the board already has 8 USB 2.0 ports. Why is it that when I look at the ports with sis Sandara, most of them say they are only 1.1 not 2.0 ports? I have Legacy support turned off.

Look in your device manager in windows. Is the Intel USB 2.0 controller listed in there with no conflicts?

Which ports are showing up as 2.0 ports?

I should download sis to see what mine show up as...
