Is there any advantage other than the networking issue to switching to the 800DX-E from the 800DX? I don't use RAID or the onboard sound.

My 800DX runs ok now that I changed the CPU fan to avoid the solder short out issue.

Which board is the fastest amongst the ASUS P4 family?

I can actually answer my own question as yesterday I moved to a P4C800-E Deluxe.

My setup is P4 3 gHz with 1 gig of OCZ 3200 dual channel 2-3-3-6 RAM.

The P4C800-E Deluxe is noticeably faster and benches out faster as well.

My memory bandwidth on the P4C800-E Deluxe is 4779 mbs and on the P4C800 UAY it was 4450 tops.

Yes I think getting away from having 3Com LAN hanging off your PCI, is a really good move. Rotating the Northbridge heatsink 45 degrees to reduce interference with 3rd-party heatsinks, was another very positive change. And having the ICH5R capability just in case you ever want RAID there, is worth it too.

Those are the main differences between the boards, and they're all great improvements IMO.
