My configuration is P4C800 Deluxe, P4 2.4 1GB Dual DDR PC3200
HD WD 80GB 7200 RPM 2MB. PS 500 w

BIOS version 1008 installed

requesting setup during the POST the messages are:

driver attached to Fast Trak controller, The Bios is not istalled (what means???)

the screen shows a blue bar on top and a "WAIT ..." in the
middle FOREVER.

any clue what happens?. I reinstalled the BIAS from the motherboard support several times but still hangs.

Is it the BIOS?. There is a way to restore the Bios SETUP?

I'm having the same problem.

I press the 'del' key to get into setup.

It gives the message: "starting setup", but doesn't. It's seems to start normally, then I get a message about scanning for IDE drives and then nothing. The monitor gets no signal and nothing happens.

I tried powering on and off and after about 20 tries I was able to get into the bios.

I've updated the most current bios version 1008.

Anyone have any ideas?

I would like to get into the bios to turn of the RAID stuff and to set the hard drive to 32 bit mode.

Thanks,

Laz

Have you tried to reset CMOS? There should be a jumper on the board that you move. I don't know where it is at on this particular motherboard but it should say in the manual. Nothing else you can disconnect it from power and remove the battery for a hour or so and that will reset the CMOS. Hope it helps.

What will resetting CMOS do? Will that restore the original BIOS version?

If I don't try and enter setup (ie don't press anything), my computer starts normally.

I just can't get into the BIOS to make any changes.

Strange?

A friend with the identical computer is having the same problem.

Hmmm. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Laz

p4c800 dx "bios not installed"

That message is for the fast track promise option that comes with this motherboard. this is normal but you can disable it too. What it sounds like to me is you have to go into the setup you can do this by hitting the del key over and over keep on hitting it even through the message fast track controller device not found, and the bios not found. once there go to the advanced tab and look where it says operating mode and make sure it says ide not raid this will allow you to boot the machine.

REMEMBER keep pressing the del key even through the message.

Knowledge is power read it, think it, use it..

And always make sure you use a clean install of your OS
