I've just recently got a new computer rig, and installed a few new games. Crysis was one of the few I liked to play, but it would always seem to result in the graphic card giving out no signal. I've downloaded and installed PC Wizard, and have been monitoring the GPU temperature, and it goes up to 70-77 C when in game (Crysis, GTA IV). It would either freeze up, or give out little red lines and then finally freeze. After freezing, it would then say on the monitor that it has no signal, finally after the computer will restart.

I've also have had a few "smooth" runs with GTA IV a few times, but it usually crashes after 15 mins or so. The max i've played without crashing is 1H +.

PC SPECS
Windows Vista 32 Bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz CPU
nVidia GeForce 9800 GT OC 512 MB GDDR3 Memory
6GB of DDR2 RAM
Gateway Motherboard
400 Watt PSU

Is there any way to cool down, or prevent the GPU temperature going any higher?

Is it the GPU problem?

Could it be the GPU card placement problem as well? Because right below the graphic card is another board, which is blocking the fan.

Thank you in Advance for answering my questions! :D If you need any more specs or have any questions, PM me, or ask here. Thank you again!~

This is a pre-built system from Gateway. They offered it at a low price, so i went ahead and bought the system.

I believe the power supply I have is 400 Watts, but I do have a spare 660 Watt PSU lying around somewhere. But I`m scared to use it because the last few times I used it, it screwed up my computer somehow. I put the 660 Watt PSU on a 1-2 year old computer because my previous PSU broke. I`m guessing it was too much Power? I'm not really sure...but i'm going to see if a new power supply will work.

Thank you for your advice. :D

EDIT: If I were to get a new power supply what...
-Watts
-Brand
-Price Range
would you recommend for my PC SPECS?... or is any 650 Watt + PSU fine?

o... okay, thank you emosun and wrench97. :D

I'll see if i can buy that PSU you advised....but I see that on the back of my PC case, there's no PSU power on/off switch.... and there's no hole there for the switch.... D:
