So don't get the PC Chips board. They are a pretty low end mobo anyway and advertising 400mhz by overclocking is a joke. Have a look here at the Gigabyte boards that support 400mhz FSB - there are a number of them and they are all at reasonable prices.
thanks but thats a little more than i have to spend, 50usd is all i can afford, thanks for the link hto
I agree. PC Chips makes EXTREMELY budget boards that even small OC's can kill. I recommend saving some more and getting a good ASUS or MSI board.

If you get the PC Chips board and try to run it at 400mhz you could well introduce a whole raft of problems. As suggested above, save a little more and get a decent board - after all it is the foundation of your system.
but it says IT WILL support 400mhz but that its oc
I have this board and it is very nice with my 2400+. I tried putting in a 3200+ and couldn't get the board to post. It is possible my processor is bad since it is used and untested, but I will get it tested shortly and repost. Has anyone succesfully run this board with a 3200+? Did you have to do anything special?
If the board doesn't support a 200Mhz FSB then running the 3200+ will be a waste of time and money. It'll only perform at it's top game if the board fully supports the speed it needs, namely a 200Mhz FSB. If you have to OC it then forget it.

OK, for everyone out there trying to help. The board will support 400Mhz FSB but you have to overclock it in the Bios. This is per PC Chips advertising and Box information. It looks like it just won't automatically detect 400Mhz FSB. I am no expert but I can follow a long. Any skilled advice is welcome.

I currently have never seen anyone post that they have this board running a 3200+, though it says it can run the 400Mhz FSB.

Thx
Still, if it's not a stock setting it's not worth trying. I'd give a good deal of money to snag a 3200+ so risking it with a PC Chips board and overclocking is just wrong.
I have this board with a 2700 and running it 2800+. This board handles vista ultimate no prob. use kingston value ram at 400, go to bios, set to manual, then see how good your cooling and the slowest part installed acts, go up or back down from that point. For 37 bucks, i'm pleased. I think it will run a 3200 with proper bios settings.

Errr... have you looked at the date of this thread?
I have 2 M848A's and when I put better RAM in it it detected it and bumped up the FSB to 400 automatically. Ya these boards are cheap but that is the point. They are out dated hardware that works just as good as the high end boards that you paid 250+ for two years ago. Over clocking one of these should not be a worry as any CPU that would fit in it (even a year ago was and is out dated and cheap). I'm taking one of these with a burned out primary IDE controller to college and frying it just for S&G. Okay, this thread is old and your point is... (only noobs worry about how new something is. I have a Pentium 2 that works and a C64 on loan to my professor at college)
