We have spent hours!!!! on the phone with SBC who is our DSL provider. Outlook will receive emials, but will not allow us to send or reply to messages...short of throwing the computer out the window, we've tried everything including purchasing a new modem...any suggestions...please

Well, you can try and use another POP enabled email account to test that SBC, not Outlook is funky. Try maybe GMail and enable pop access. If Outlook can send via gmail, then SBC is at fault, but if it can't there may be a prob with outlook itself.

Just an off chance thought. Was this outlook account setup and working with a different ISP?
If so , did you change the SMTP to SBCs DSL (Smtp.sgcglobal.yahoo.com I think) ?
Most broadband , and many other ISP too now block forwarding of SMTP in an effort to battle spam. Therefore even if you have another email provider (say your website host) you cannot use them to sent email from a pop program on your desktop, you must interface via the web page to send.
