There are a few things to check whenever you cannot print from Outlook Express.
According to Microsoft, check to see if the folder that is referred to by the TEMP environment variable is missing. To check this:
1. Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click System.
3. On the Environment tab, note the path for the TEMP variable in the User Variables for box. The default is :\Temp.
4. Use Windows Explorer to verify that the path you noted in step 3 exists. If it does not exist, create it.
There also is a known problem with Outlook Express 5.0 on some systems that requires the Preview Pane option to be active. To make the Preview Pane active: Click Layout on the View menu in Outlook Express, click the Show preview pane checkbox to select it, then click OK. This has been corrected in Outlook Express 5.5. So, upgrading to Outlook Express 5.5 may solve your problem.
As a last resort, try uninstalling and then reinstalling Outlook Express. This will keep your settings and should restore the files it needs for printing. To uninstall:
1. Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click the Windows Setup tab, click to clear the Microsoft Outlook Express checkbox and click OK.
4. Quit Control Panel.
