I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with Windows XP and MCAfee Security Center software. I am using Outlook Express 6. I originally set up the software for my email account and can connect immediately to my ISP, RCN.com, a POP3 server.
When I restart my computer, I am given an error message stating briefly that the password or username is incorrect. When I go into Tools/Mail/Properties/Servers I find the Incoming username has been changed from pop.rcn.com to 127.0.0.1. All other setup information is unchanged. Obviously when I change the username I can connect immediately.
What's going on?
