I have Outlook 2007 and when I type in instant search (Search All Mail Items) it only comes up with a few (dates are no later than a few days) emails. Even if I type something as common as a sender like Trevor who i have hundreds of emails from, it will only show 3 or 4 emails. So if I type a specific word from an email that I know has that word from last month...it will not find that email. How do I rectify this so it truely searches all my mail, folders, and comes up with a full search?

Did you let Outlook index your inbox recently. Try to do that manually, maybe it solves some issues. I had a similar problem once and it helped for a while, but returned exactly to the same after a few weeks. I looked up for alternative search tools. There are quite a few. So long my favourite would be Lookeen. Helps me find everything in my contacts, calender or multiple archives at once. I'm using it for about two month now and it helped me a lot. So maybe it's something for your consideration when you can't solve the instant search problem. Just check it out: www.lookeen.net
