.I just spent a bit of money getting new hardwear and softwear for my computer, but when I put it all together and ran it.... Went Kaput. Have 6 Gigs of ram, and system only shows 4.

Softwear: WinXP Pro x64 sp2 (System is all updated and has all the latest drivers)
Hardwear:
MoBo: Asus M2N-E (Got the latest Bios)
CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor - Retail
RAM:
Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail [Timing 4-4-4-12]

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail [Timing 5-5-5-15]

My Mobo Manual states:
"This motherbaoard can support 8 GB physical memory on the operating systems listend below. You may install a maximum of 2 GB DIMMs on each slot."

And it lists the OS I am currently running, which again is WinXP Pro x64 with sp2.

Please help me out.

Crucial Ballistix RAM is known for problems. Filling all 4 slots on a MOBO can also cause problems. If the 2X2 sticks of Ballistix work OK then use them. 4GB is plenty of RAM.

I too have a close problem. I'm running also M2N-E, AMD 64 x2 6000+, on XP pro 64 sp2, but with all matching RAM, OCZ 800mhz 4x2gig.
I'm getting even worse numbers. Using 3gig in system window in XP. In startup reading 6gig, usable 4gig. BIOS is all set to auto, it's reading 4-4-4-15 2t @ MHz, but doesn't display how much RAM is loaded.
When me old set of sticks was loaded 4x1gig, Kingston and generic brand it was reading 3.5gig in XP, boot reading 4gig usable 3.54gig. besides stripping it down, isn't there a solution to this.
