I am running windows 8 64 bit. I bought battlefield 3 (disc), i clicked setup.exe,
I selected english, I clicked install, window closed. No sign of it in task manager.
I've tried installing origin separately, disabling anti-virus, editing the registry, re-
installing, searched for days on forums, please help me.

Try downloading the Origin client from the internet and installing that first.
I have had lots of problems with Origin in Windows 8 and still do. But this one way I worked around that issue.

Try installing as admin, and also compatibility mode.

origin is rubbish, lots of people have been having issues with it lately and EA wont do anything about it.
