Optiarc CD-RW CRX880A unable to read dvd only

i have 2 year old laptop acer extensa 5210, having a DVD rom cum cd writer...
my problem is it unable to read dvd's but perfectly read cd...:upset:

i searched alot on net and done these steps...
1. reinstall driver...
2. download fix from microsoft web site.
3. done regit things like upper filter trick

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then SYSTEM then CURRENTCONTROLSET then CONTROL then CLASS then {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} then in the right frame highlight LOWERFILTERS and delete, then highlight UPPERFILTERS and delete

4. most importantly i clean my dvd lense with cotton and alcohol


nothing seems to work...

last time it read dvd 3 months back....

Any help will be appreciated. Please suggest asap i have windows 7
