When I start my computer, it tries to start a application called openme.exe but says it can't find the files related to it. I think I might have erased them when I was deleting files I thought I didn't need. I don't know what the openme.exe files is or what it is used for. I would like to find out how to make the computer stop trying to access it every time it turns on. I already checked my start menu using the run - msconfig but was not on there. Any ideas anyone?
Openme is a trojan which opens selected porn sites on your browser. I am very web savvy and picked the trojan up from... who knows where. (I blame the wife).
It is in your resident memory, the error at startup is fine, it means the file is just where it should be, not on your computer.
Get rid of the file. It could be a virus or just spyware. In either case, I'd avoid running any .exe (executable file) that you're not sure about. Avoid opening any attachment in email unless you know the sender and are expecting the file. Many viruses can now be spread inadvertantly by your friends -- viruses can infect their email program and send duplicates of itself via email to others. Thus, be careful of all attachments.
