It seems so hard for me to get good information on this. I know that ATI cards are geared towards D3D and nVidia is towards OpenGL, right? Well my question is, how much does this difference actually effect performance? After looking at HL2 and DOOM 3 benchmarks, it seems quite a bit-the ATI cards do unreasonably well compared to their technically superior nVidia counterparts and in DOOM 3, nVidia does as I'd expect it to do. So... what's the deal?

Also, if anyone knows, will Black and White 2 be running on D3D or OpenGL?

black and white 2 will be d3d as far as im aware

also although in benchmarks ati do not do as well as g force cards, they are normally still just as good to use in real gaming, although they are more geared towards d3d games like hl2 rather than d3. i personnally go for ati for the price, and the fact that i will not really be missing the small frame rate diff.

(there always has been the great debate over g force or ati such as the proc debate between pentium or athlon)
