Ok, let me start to describe allll the things wrong with this laptop:

Adware: Popups constantly... will have to x out of probably 10 before im done writing this.

Homepage: locked to C:\secure32.html Which resembeles a BSOD and says i dont have adequate spyware protection... tried to delete file... It pops back up moments after deletion...

Add/Remove Programs: Disabled... when you try to run it it crashes with the error messages: Run an ___ as a DLL has encountered an error and needs to close AND Dr. Watsons Post-Mortem Debugger has encountered an error and needs to close

Ulead Photostudio: Crashes on startup... not sure if this is part of the spyware problem but i cant uninstall it cause ADDREMOVE PROGRAMS IS BUSTED!

Safehouse: I think i may know where the spyware is coming from... SOMETHING has taken refuge in the Limewire program files.... The program wont run... and anytime i even scroll over the folder to see the Contents: section... Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I tried deleting it with Killbox but even it locks up during an attempt to delete it.

Ive been ignoring it for a few weeks, but i finally have some time on my hands and thought id ask for help.

ANY HELP AND/OR HALF-BAKED IDEAS APPRECIATED

Hello aub676, and welcome to TSF

Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools,

Please read this post completely before begining the fix. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding.
Please ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this
webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T MISS A STEP & PERFORM EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT ORDER.

----------------------------------------

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.

The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear.
Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!

Please make every effort to reply to my posts in a timely manner. Malware breeds malware and the longer an infection remains on a system, the more
likely additional infections will result.

----------------------------------------

You have multiple infections on your system which will probably take multiple posts to clean.
The first one, Wareout, must be attacked first as it can affect your internet connection.

----------------------------------------

HIJACK THIS IN TEMP FOLDER

You are running Hijack This from a temporary directory. It needs to be in a permanent folder. Please go into Windows Explorer,
click on C: then click on File > New > Folder and call it HJT , or another name of your choice. The program creates backup
files that we may need to use later. If the program is in a Temporary folder, files may be deleted by you or automatically if your
system is set to empty temp files.

  • The fix will begin: Please follow the prompts.
  • You will be asked to reboot your compute: Please do so.
  • Your system may take longer than usual to load and this is normal.
