Hi all,

I have an old HP Omnibook Xe3 with a Pentium 3 550Mhz CPU inside. My laptop recently start to freeze with a blank screen randomly. The CPU fan stops blowing too. Keyboard numlock/capslock has no response when this happens. It happens sometimes before bios, sometimes during XP loading, sometimes inside Windows. I have suspected it could be a heat problem, but I tried attaching cooling pads to it and still the problem is there. I checked that it wasn't memory, cdrom or harddisk problem (by swapping them out). Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, there is no difference between all the safe modes ( w/ and w/o networking support, etc). The random freeze still occurs. And I also tried Linux boot disks (Knoppix) and DOS boot disks (FreeDOS).
