Greets all...thought I would try a Tech Support forum for the first time ever :)

One of myfield offices has the following setup.

- Linksys Wireless Router/Switch (4-port)
- Additional Linksys 8-port Switch connected via the uplink port.

Both are a couple of years old...and both are plugged straight into the wall (no APC or UPC). On the devices they have the following:

- Windows PC
- Windows PC
- Windows PC
- Extra Cat5E cable
- HP 800ps Plotter (big printer)
- Ricoh MFD (printer/copier/scanner)

And...a few ports not being used. Here is my issue. The 800ps has an onboard JetDirect, a 615n model. After the latest power outage at this site, the 800ps "fell off" the network and none of the engineers can print to it. Everything else came back up.

When you power cycle the 800ps, it will grab an IP address using DHCP, but then fall completely off the DHCP table. I have tried setting its standard Static IP as well (192.168.1.200), and that will not work either. Cannot even get into the Jetdirect via webadmin to change stuff up.

Second quirk. I went and bought a Netgear USB PrintServer and plugged the plotter in via that method (ie USB port). The PS121 grabs DHCP as it should for the initial setup and shows up in the DHCP table, but it is not recognized in the Print Server setup utility. I CAN get to its webadmin and can set a Static IP, but it still is not 'seen' on the network.

I have tried swapping cables, I have tried another Jetdirect card, and I have tried multiple setups, cables, and using a router switch port versus a switch port off the 8-port switch...none of which has worked.

What could be the issue here? Could something in the comm gear be just fried enough that I cannot get certain devices back online?

My next step was a new router, just thought I would get some outside opinions before taking that step.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

If all the other network equipment is working, it's hard to believe the router is defective. Since you have tried two different network connections, it appears something has broken inside the printer. Can you connect the HP directly to a computer and access it?

Figured it out. The HP 800ps 42" Plotter has a very funky menu system, and you must 'back out' of where you make changes and reset the printer for the changes to take effect. After numerous tests and trials, I was able to get the printer to show up DHCP, at which point I hit the webadmin interface, Static IP'd the thing...and got it set back up properly.

Thanks for the words, now on to my second issue!
