Discussion Starter #1 (Edited)
On or about Oct 12 Windows 10 updated automatically and something caused wifi support to fail. The machine would boot up, but either I could not log on or Windows would not fully load https://mobdro.bio/ https://kodi.bio/. Finally I was able to log on, restore to an earlier working setup, and connect to the Internet with a cable.

Now, however, because of the cursed automatic backups it has failed again and I am unable to get past the splash screen to log on - the keyboard is unresponsive. This means, of course, I cannot use msconfig.

Although I have a cloud backup, I have also had that fail in the past, so I would like to avoid wiping the laptop if possible. Is there any procedure that will allow me to reinstall Windows without destroying everything?

Thanks.

What is the make and model # of your laptop?
Try using the On Screen Keyboard or a USB keyboard.
Once you login, if you have Ethernet cable Internet, then press the Windows key+X and choose Device Manager, here are there any devices with yellow flags? If so these devices need drivers.
Go to your computer manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in your make and model# and download the Chipset Driver for your model, install and Restart computer. Then return to that page and install the WiFi driver and then any other drivers that are needed from the Device Manager.
