Nvidia 6800 GT Help!

1055 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Indoril Nerevar
Hey, i have a 6800 GT and back in the spring when i playing games on my PC my comp would freeze and shut off, then i thought it was dust so i cleaned my video card so it fixed it for about 1 month as time went on more issues started to occur. So my video card symptons right now are, when i minimize and maximize a game my mouse cursor dissappears, my screen shuts completely off, and a message comes up saying my display drivers are not responding and i have uninstalled and re-installed my drivers plenty of times. And some times when i boot the computer up my screen gets all pixelated and i have to re-boot then its fine. Can some one please help me, maybe i'm installing the wrong driver? or maybe my video card is broke?

Hi Mazuro,

I think this could be caused by two problems. Overheating is likely, but the PSU is a definite possibility as well. Please list your system specs from Everest and post the specs of your PSU located on the side as well.

Also, download SpeedFan and RivaTuner. When you are playing a game, minimize it and take a look at your temps and voltages from SpeedFan and your GPU temps from RivaTuner. Please post these as well.
Just one note: minimising a game is rarely a good idea. Most current games do not respond well to being minimised (which includes using alt+tab) - some will crash, some will freeze, some will lag, etc... Sometimes you'll get away with it, but usually that's with older games - the newer ones simply don't like it.

Step 1 - Don't minimise or use alt+tab.
Step 2 - Continue with TheMatt's instructions.
