Hi guys,
I read a few threads with almost exactly the same problem as mine, but none of them have helped so far, so here I go.

I have a brand new XFX 9600GT card and for some reason it's been acting bad.
I'm fine with playing bioshock(with little difficulties), but when it comes to assasin's creed, after 5 mins or so of the game, the monitor just goes black, freezes, and the only thing left to do is a cold reset; sometimes it straight away goes to the BSOD with a nv4_disp.dll problem.

I can do all other work on the pc peacefully. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the display drivers.

I've got an ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE mobo, with nforce 570SLI MCP.
Power supply:ZEB-400W PLUS(20+4 pin)

It's most definitely that power supply your using.

It doesn't have enough wattage or amps on the 12v rail (only 17) for a 9600. When you use a low quality or low wattage power supply it can generate artifacts , overheating , or even blue screens (like what your experiencing).

It really should be a decent quality 500w or higher for a 9600 with 26amps on it's 12v rail and to be 80+ efficient. These are some good units to consider

Hey emosun..

I guessed earlier that the problem might've been 'cuz of the PSU, but i realized yday that one of my memory slots had stopped working, and it was showing only 1gb RAM(which was actually 2 GB), so i used another slot to make it 2gig again, and now everything is working smoothly. Not any blue screen till now(about 5hrs of continuous playing)

Anyway, i'l consider ur advice on getting a decent PSU. Thx

So could the insufficient memory be a problem? Or is the prob gone just for now?

With that powersupply I can see it happening again very soon.
