Hi guys! can somebody help me? I hv window xp service pack 2 pc which can not boot because the ntlrd file is missing. I hv tried to solve this problem by inserting a windows xp cd in the cd drive and booting from it. In the "welcome top setup" menu i pressed "R", typed "1" and the only stage which i could not go thru was when it prompted me to type an administrator password it appeared as if the password was wrong because it could not be accepted.After entering it three times i was prompted to restart the computer so that i could start from scratch. Can some1 help me how to recover my admin password or anything that could possibly rescue me because I cant use my pc anymore?

This isn't a validation issue srinath29.

Onivy try just hitting enter for the admin password. See if this gets you in. That R for repair does not correct the ntldr issue.

You may need to proceed to a repair install of xp to gain access to the system.

Do as Wanderer suggested and if that works and you get to the command prompt, type copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\ , where D is the drive letter of your cd rom drive. Remove CD & reboot.

Hey yours is xp na.. press ctrl+shift+del.. when it asks for password.. then type some random name and get into it and after that remove the old password..

srinath29 that is two wrong answers in a row. Onivy isn't even getting the OS to boot let alone get to a logon screen or have the ability to bring up task manager.
