Hi everyone,

Joined the forum recently. I have a serious problem. My system keeps shutting down after a popup appears saying "nt authoriy/system has authorised this shutdown" with a count down timer starting from 58 seconds. I searched this forum if there was any hijack this log posted about this and i found one. I tried downloading trend micro and running it. but it gave some error message and finally didnt work. And there is some zlip which got installed in the c drive. As soon as I start my computer a window pops up in which i can only see a cross mark in red and an OK button. Cant see the message. Even after pressing ok button it keeps popping up. This stops only when I end the process in the task manager. I tried running stinger. It found 4 infected files and cleaned them (or so it said). But the problem still persists.

Pls help!!

Thanks

First thing, if you get that countdown window again, quickly either click start -> run or press Windows + R and type "shutdown -a" and hit enter (without the quotes of course). This will abort the auto shutdown, and although it may restart the timer, it will give you a few more valuable seconds.

Secondly, this sounds much like the Blaster worm. Here is more information about this virus and instructions for disinfection.

Afterwards, I would suggest going to GreyKnight's anti-spyware page here and following the instructions to keep yourself protected and remove any other malicious code you have on your system.
