Hi all,

Currently using a laptop as my destop computer aint working. A couple of weeks ago my brother set up two monitors for the computer using ATI, one displayed the extended desktop. He later left and when i turned the computer on the next day other than the set up screen right at the start the picture would suddenly go blank. To overcome this problem i simply use to unplug and plug the monitor back in to get it to show up. Sometimes i use to leave it unplugged right untill everthing was loaded and i use to get a desktop with different settings i.e the ratio settings had changed.

Well anyways yesterday all was working fine but today when i turn it on, absolutely nothing. No set up screen, no nothing. I have no idea how to fix this problem. I'm 90% sure its to do with ATI and the problems its caused me this past week.

Just to confirm, there is nothing wrong with the monitor, if i switch it on it momentarily turns on but gives you the message that 'no video signal' is being recevived then it automatically turns itself off to standby.

where you plugging the monitor into the back of the tower with pc on?
Yeh, the computer would start up as normal and after the windows xp message was displayed it would turn itself off to stand by. At that point i would unplug and plug the scart and the monitor would turn on.

No worries now though, a mate called me up before and sorted the problem. I dont quite exactly remember what i did but he told me to unplug the computer from the tower and switch it off on the back. Then once i plugged and switched everything back on again the monitor turned on with a error message. I then pressed F10 and and it brought me to a blue screen. Told me to alter a few things and it works again. Sorry i cant quite remember the exact details to pass on.
