I have a 30Gig drive I want to back up. I bought a 160 Gig external USB drive to do it on. I thought that would be plenty to both use to back up my drive, and also to keep file backups as I need to from time to time. However, I have Norton Ghost and its user manual says that the drive the image file is created will have all data erased. Does that mean the few files I have already saved will be deleted, and that the whole drive must be dedicated to this one image file?

Depending on the answer, the next question may be moot, but I'd like to ask it anyway. Thinking that maybe I should partition the external drive, I went to Disk Management (I'm running Win 2000)and tried to open it to get to the disk partitioning menus, and it said "The Service Data Base is Locked" I believe I am logged in as administrator--could that be it? How do I tell?

Any help on the above will of course be greatly appreciated!
