2895 Views 10 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  levicolerogers
Hi,

I'm trying to install the Norton AntiVirus Pro Edition 2002 and I keep getting a program error saying "Internal Error 2889". What's wrong here. I have windows 98.

Thanks

Norton does not support Win98, that's what the clerk told me at Radio Shack.
Oops Sorry, He said this is the last year, they are supporting the Win98. Good Luck!
Are you getting the error during an attempted install or after install attempting to run the program?
After installing. I got this time Internal Error 2889 License Agreement.

Welcome to the forums Chris J

Is this a program you purchased or are you using a burned copy?

Also did you register it on the install....;)
Purchased and it would not let me go that far to register. Error came up first.

Question

ok I have to ask, did you purchase it from a ligit. reatail store or from some fat white guy out of a van in an alley?:)

Anyway.. Try uninstalling it and then reloading it, if it continues not to work try taking it back there is a chance you might have a defective disk (pretty remote) it sounds more like a win98 problem, the AV program is most likley conflicting with another program you have running in your tray. Try shutting down everything in your tray 1 by one until it works or if that does not work make sure you are all fully win98 updated. Let us know how it turns out. Always learnin' :)
another error problem

I'm new at this and I hope I'm doing this correctly...since you've had a problem with Norton before, perhaps you know what an Internal Error 2753 (Norton Antivirus 2002) would mean. I would really appreciate your help. Echo
Nav

Hey have you had any other NAV programs installed on the same system in the past? If so you will have to go to the symantec website and get a reg edit tool and the uninstall tool that will completely remove them from your comp. If you do not do this it will not allow the new norton to run, possibly not even load.
