Trying to reduce noise from my PC, I purchased an Arctic-Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra TC. Of course I forgot to check for compatibility, and the fan is for socket 754 and the newer AMD 64 processors. Mine is a sokcet A(462 pin). So...
Can I stick the fan on there anyway somehow?
Maybe with some cooling paste?
My CPU currently rarely gets hotter than 35-40 C.

PS. Could someone also point me towards a firsttimers overclocking guide?

Hi,

Let me just say that I highly recommend that you don't use a fan that is not designed for your particular CPU. That is simply asking for trouble and would put your warranty of the CPU at risk.

It was a 2. hand cooler. But the problem is solved. I was able to swap it for a similar one. thx.

My advice would be to read/google a lot about people with similar equipment as yours and see what they do.
