I have a 200 mhz Gateway which ran win95. I reformated the harddrive due to problems. Was finally successful and reinstalled windows. Was attempting to get modem working and lost video. I was messing with the video card, modem card and sound card. Can't get the monitor to show anything. I tried monitor on another machine - it works fine. I tried another video card that I know works and that didn't help. I suspect that I moved the video card to a different slot but can not trace it back.

I was trying to get the computer to recognize the modem on com1 but there was no com1. It placed it on com3 which I am afraid was where the video was.

I am confused and one of those people that a little knowledge will get me in trouble and it has.

Any help is appreciated.

If possible can I start over, reformat everything and reinstall?

Great idea but didn't work. I also tried using a card that works in another computer but doesn't work in this one. Any other ideas?
Yes I did try that. I went this week end and got a new video card. Put it in and it works. I don't know why the other card (that I knew worked) didn't work. But I am back and running. Thank you very much for your persistance in attempting to solve the problem.
