hello,
i was having problems with my laptop where it would start up and show me my desktop background but not the taskbar or any of my icons. so i did the recovery and it was working fine. well two days later it did the same thing and i could not figure out how to get it to show up so i did the recovery again. after this last time of doing the recovery it does not give me a standby mode anymore so everytime i am done using my laptop i have to shut it down otherwise it just keeps running. if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated.

thank you in advance

Please post all information related your laptop.

ie:make&model, OS, Service Packs, also whether your laptop power schemes are handled through the OS or some sort of power management utility that was bundled with the laptop.

Click start>control panel>power options now you will now be in the power options properties, click on the Hibernate tab and make sure enable hibernation is checked and also make sure across from System standby it does not read never or that would have it disabled.
