I have Windows and Linux (Ubuntu 9.04) as O.S., board ASUS Chosshair, processor AMD Phenom, Memory 4 GB. Output sound through optical port works fine on windows but not on Linux , there is any driver for this purpuse ?

Is that for onboard?

Are you using Alsa? If so, from where.

You might need to make sure that you have the INTEL_HD_AUDIO module.
