I have an Asus P4PE-X motherboard. Just reinstalled win xp. Now I download the Audio Driver from the Asus website to get sound. However this doesn't work.

SoundMax is installed but there is no sound or recognition of any audio hardware whatsoever? Isn't the audio hardware on the motherboard itself? So why isn't it recognized when I already have a driver installed?

When I got to the control panel it says that there is no Audio Device. How do I get this to work and get sound???

Have you enabled onboard sound in the BIOS?

For my p4p800e_d, it is under 'advanced>onboard devices configuration>onboard ac'97 Audio'. Yours should be in a similar place

Keep us posted of your progress :sayyes:
