Hello! I just upgraded from Win2K to WinXP pro. When I try to play DVDs (using Windows Media player, or WinDVD and PCFriendly DVD) I get the visuals working fine, but there is no sound whatsoever. Other audio files (mp3s) and audio cds play fine, so I don't believe it's a sound card problem. I've also checked the volume settings and none of the channels are muted. Playback worked fine in Win2K so I don't know what the problem is here. The DVD driver is correct appears to be up to date. Does anyone know what the issue might be here and how to solve it? Many thanks.
I'm not sure whether or not this is the issue, but on my machine, there is a cable that has to go from the CD drive to the sound card in order to play cds, such might be the case with your DVD drive.
