So i built my own laptop and got everything up and running but there is no sound. Device manager shows everything is well sound/video related..

audio codecs
legacy audio drivers
legacy video capture device
media control devices
soundMAX integrated digital audio
video codecs

everything here has the little volume/speaker icon showing. Itunes even shows songs as playing, but no sound. All the typical dumb things ive checked, volume is up, not muted etc. is there a driver or device conflict or what? here is my EVEREST summary, any help greatly appreciated as I am stuck

Hey thanks for the tip...
I downloaded that driver and checked it out, but it is just the soundMAX digital audio driver which I have installed already, I reinstalled that one just in case but same results...Device manager shows all is well...What is legacy audio drivers? and is this conflicting with my soundMAX onboard?

Go into Start > (Settings) > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
Check that Windows Audio at the bottom is started and set to automatic.

Also, do you get sound if you plug in headphones or external speakers.

Also, you should try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. It sometimes helps. Make sure you are using the correct drivers for your system. Often, some manufacturers like to add their own little doodads to the sound systems. Try a manual Windows Update to get the latest drivers. You will need to select "Custom" when asked.

The same problem as mentioned
The exception is that i've got sound from my headphones.
Maybe it is just because i use notebook without battery? And after reinstalling i've got a message that my USB concentrator has not enough energy...

Please help.

Hi,

If you get sound with your headphones, you most likely have speakers hat are bad or just not plugged in. It is a different problem, I would start a new thread in laptops.
