First, try with the adapter made for the laptop. If it was overvolted then the DC input may be totalled.
No POWER
When installing some new software on a friends laptop, the computer went dead. I then realized the power supply was the wrong kind (for a printer not the laptop) What are some quick diagnostics I can check to see if the laptop (IBM Thinkpad T21) is or is not a total loss??

Sometimes... I usually visit www.ebay.com for my laptop parts as it's often easyto find those rare or uncommon replacement parts. Buying stripped machines is also a great way to get "spares."
