I'm putting back together a system I had a while ago. Specs are:
(Dell Dimension XPSB 733r)
P3 733MHz 133fsb
Intel 820 chipset
256MB PC800 RDRAM
I lent the processor to a friend a couple of months back who had a P3 450MHz processor to see if it would work on his system. It didnt work. Could this have damaged it?
I havent tried it since then and when I just put my old system back together I cant get it to boot. The hard disk and CD drives power up so theres no problem with the power.
I have unplugged everything except the processor, RAM and graphics card.
On the back of the mobo there are 4 lights that show messages when booting. None of these lights go on. The manual says remove all cards and retry, otherwise contact Dell.
Any suggestions?
Updated: I get 3 beeps when I remove the RAM. Which, according to the manual, is a normal memory error.
