I have a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo T and have had intgermittent problems with the CPU overheating caused by the CPU fan clogging up with dust. The screen would go black. I would take the CPU fan out, clean away the dust and all would be fine.

Now I have a new problem and it is worse :-(

When I power on the PC I get :

a) Power to most of the PC (CPU fan works, Graphics card fan works)
b) No output to the monitor (black screen orange LED on monitor). The monitor displays a no signal message and goes to sleep.
c) No BIOS loading on screen
c) No power to the keyboard (no lights on keyboard)
d) I hear no beeps
e) Power to the DVD writer
f) Power to the DVD reader. Both open and close
g) I have hard disk activity. The LED flashes when the computer is powered on


Specification - P4 3.2 Ghz
2* 512 DDR modules
Motherboard -GigaByte - 8I848PM
ATI Radeon 9200 graphics card

I have already :
a) tried another monitor on the same AGP graphics card
b) tried a new AGP graphics card with two different monitors
c) tried a PCI graphics card

If anybody has any idea on how I can fix this I would be most grateful.

Did you replace the the thermal paste on the CPU using arctic silver 5?

Hi No, I didn't think I have to. The fan is clipped to the top of the heat sink for the CPU and I didn't have to remove the CPU when I cleared out the dust in the past

Thanks for the tip about the thermal paste. I will try it and let you know how I get on

The one thing with That little thing of Arctic Silver 5 is good for about 10 or so applications of it. So if a friend needs some you can always share. I have also seen temps go down by around 7 degress celsius or so depending on the system.

If you're going to get a new PSU this will do for your current system

The replacement psu did not improve the situation. I guess it must be the mother board or CPU
