Hi all,

I live in an apartment that only has one grounded outlet--in the kitchen. The others may or may not have three prongs, but they are not grounded. 1. Will my surge protector work? 2. I recently built this computer from a barebones kit and it worked fine for the first month, but recently the monitor has begun to take on an intermitent purple tint. At first I thought it was ram incompatibility, since it started immediately after adding new ram, but I took everything out but the original ram and the problem continues. Could something have been damaged by an electrostatic discharge? Is there a way to get around the ground problem?

thanks for any help you can offer.

have you tried a different monitor,or try your current monitor in another computer.

the monitor could just be on it's way out.
how old is it?

To answer the original question, no the surge protector will not work. You really need a proper ground for it to function properly. You can run a heavy write from the plumbing if it's copper, and ground the system that way.
