Hi everyone,

I am having a problem with that P4C800-E that I have yet found an answer to. Here is my system specs.:

CPU P4/2.8CGHz 800M 478P/512K HT RT
2 - DDRAM512MB|CORSAR64X64 VS512MB400 (1024MB total).
HD 120GB|MAXTOR 6Y120M0 SATA
Samsung SM-352 52x24x52xCD-RW & 16X DVD-ROM CDR-SM-352
Thermaltake POWER SP|480W(P4)W0010PFC
no name 1.44MB floppy drive.
4x AGP ATI Radeon 7500 video card with 64MB

I have been able to successfully flash the Bios to version 1010 (P4C81010 using afudos.exe) and loaded Win2000 Pro. The Bios can see the above devices (except the power supply) and seem to be running normally. Since loading Win2000 when I start my computer the system does not beep. However when the system starts up a message reads: “Detecting…” The “…” adds on as if looking for something then the Detecting message disappears and the error:

“No device is found!”
“The Bios is not installed.”

Then OS then starts to boot. The OS (Win2000) loads normally. However when I put in a CD-R to retreave my back-ups the CD-R cannot be opened. A CD-RW program (Nero 5.5) is being used. I feel that the above error is the reason why there is a conflict between my system and the DVD/CD-RW drive.

Also when I look in the Device Manager I see the following with question marks next to it:

? Other Devices
? Promise SATA Console SCSI Processor Device
? Video Controller (VGA compatible)

Now the Video Controller is just me not able to load drivers for the Radeon 7500 from backup. But the SCSI Device is something that I have no idea about. I do not have any SCSI Devices installed.

Help... does anyone have any idea what is going on??!?

Thank you for your time,

Javora

Welcome to the forums Javora..................:D

Go into the bios and disable RAID, I think it's trying to boot to the RAID array which you are not using.

Without researching I think these motherboards have RAID.

Sorry I should have stated that I had set the Bios setting from RAID to IDE. I also set the Bios from Bios plug and play to OS plug and play.

Thanks for your responce Speedo. ;)

I'm going to call Asus (ouch no 1-800 number) and see what they say. I'll post what they had to say.

Ok I just got off the phone with Asus and they said that the problem is not the motherboard, but a Win2000/CD drive problem. Although I did win stump the tech on the "no beep during system start up". Thinking back on it, it sort of makes sense. I was able to load Nero 5.5 from CD and Nero does see the CD drive. I was also able to play a music on the CD drive. So now I am starting to suspect the CD disks themselves. All the CD that I have been able to read so far has been shinny silver in color. Although the auto start up does not seem to work on these CD's. The backup CD's that I have is black in color on both sides. Funny a new drive like that shouldn't have a problem reading media. But then stranger things have happened. :D I'm going to pose this question on the other part of this forum and see what I get. It looks like the motherboard is not the problem this time. Thanks again Speedo.

Trying to boot to SATA Raid!

It is looking for SATA drives hooked up to the raid connectors. No biggy it will still boot up. Remember raid has its own bios that are seperate but if there is no raid on the sata the bios are not an option.
